the ARTIST

Deaf  |  Art Therapist  |  Explorer

Hey there! I'm Kali Doubledee. Being the only Deaf person in my hearing family, I instinctively adopted art as one of my languages to use as a communication tool to be understood, heard, and seen. My lifelong dedication to the arts brought me to play with various art mediums, visual storytelling, and ideas during my BFA study at the Rochester Institute of Technology and MA program in Art Therapy at Lewis Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling.

In addition to my artistic background, I am currently working as a provisional art therapist based in Oregon providing the adult population with support in navigating mental health and substance use challenges and systemic barriers. I aim to create more access to the arts for the wider community as creativity in our daily lives nourishes our well-being and understanding. Art gave me a voice and acted as a vehicle for connection, and I believe you should have this opportunity, too!
